BASIS Courses in Amenity Horticulture
Understanding turfgrass management, pest, weed and disease control, environmental issues and legislation
The experts at STRI offer BASIS courses in Amenity Horticulture. This includes a dedicated turf course, developed by STRI specifically to meet the requirements of the BASIS qualification with a turf skill area. The BASIS certificate in Crop Protection—Amenity Horticulture for field, sales and technical staff (FSTS), is the national qualification for all those advising on the use, selling or supplying of plant protection products in the amenity industry. This includes contractors, distributors and plant protection products manufacturers. Also all suppliers, consultants, course managers and local authority managers involved in pesticide sales or advice.
The qualification is certified by BASIS and advisers holding the certificate become members of the BASIS Professional register. This dedicated course is nine days long completed over two separate weeks, followed by two days of exams and includes an on-line learning support package.
Training will take place at STRI’s Head Office and research facility in Bingley. Dates for the 2012 course are as follows:
Week One: 05-08 November 2012
Week Two: 10-15 December 2012
Exam: 14 & 15 January 2013
Cost: £1850 + VAT (includes exam fee)
