Regional Turfgrass Agronomist - South East

Stella is a Regional Agronomist with STRI’s Southern Area Team. She covers Essex, Kent and Surrey.

Graduating from Plymouth University, Stella has an Honours degree in Biological Sciences with a specialism in ecology. She worked in a biochemistry laboratory on projects for MAFF, (now DEFRA) before joining the sports turf industry in 1997, when she worked for 2 different commercial companies - Symbio and Grass Roots Trading Co. Ltd. The work included technical sales and support, product research and development and presentations at educational seminars.  She has been working as an STRI agronomist since June 2003, advising on the maintenance and construction of a wide variety of sports turf areas, ranging from golf, bowls, winter sports, racecourses, tennis, croquet, cricket, grass airstrip and Brands Hatch race track!

In her spare time Stella is a keen scuba-diver, enjoys gardening and likes to keep fit, especially by dancing.

Open Regional Qualifier golf venues.

Professional football clubs – Fulham FC, Leyton Orient FC.

Hurlingham Polo Association.

Sport England, Football Foundation & ECB funded improvement works.

Agronomic support for construction of new golf course in northern Cyprus.

Undertaken an exchange programme with the New Zealand Sports Turf Institute.

Organised and lectured at 2 STRI Seminars incl. Drought Issues & Planning for the Future.
